From the begining I was fascinated by independent, strong, temperament, naturally beautiful and at the same time sensitive and faithful Spitz. I read about the V group in all possibles magazines. One day, in Pies magazine, I have found an advert about Hokkaido puppies. I thought that I know all Spitz in Poland but I had no idea what Hokkaido was. The first association – Japan, the country of manga, anime and amazing history. I find 3 Polish web pages on google.pl which presented several information about this breed. I thought that I want to know something more. I find a few more information on google.com. I figured out that if this breed is not popular in Europe, I should try some American pages then. Unfortunately I was wrong once again. I was so intrigued by this topic that I decided to find as much information about this breed as possible. After talking with Hokkaido breeders in Poland, Iwona Miśkiewicz and Ewa Kwiecińska, we decided to buy a female from Polish kennel Tajgeta.
On 6 September 2005, Kiba, a white Hokkaido puppy… male was born and this is when my real adventure started. We got ethereal, joyful and energetic dog which change out life.
In 2006, me we decided to find unrelated with Kiba female. It was impossible cooperate with foreign kennels in Europe. This is why we tried to find anything about “ainu dog”, “ainu ken”, “ainu inu” and “hokkaido dog” on yahoo.jp pages. After hours of searching, we find a long list pages with Hokkaido dogs. To find e-mail addresses we had to open each link on every site but thanks to this we could sent a simple message in English to various breeders. We asked for help in rescuing Hokkaido breed. Two people replied that they cannot do anything and another one offered help but in matter of time, nothing happened. By the same reason, all these months of searching were in vain.
One day we found a Japanese forum about Hokkaido. We decided to try once more. Our appeal for help made all these people quite surprised and confused. After some time, we got private message from Itsuko who lives in Tokyo. She offered her help and in time we became good friends and despite the distance, our friendship lasts till today. We were preparing for importing female from Japan. It wasn’t easy as it seams but finally, in spring 2007, our 4 months old Itsu (Itsuhime Kitami Hokuryuusou) came to Warsaw.
My fascination for this breed was growing in time. I was amazed by a white dog Yuku which won Dokenho show in 2006. It’s a Japanese association of Hokkaido owners and breeders, recognized by JKC. I wanted to buy a female from Yuku owners and this is why I sent a request to them. However, after a year of waiting, it turned out that there were only male puppies after this stud dog. We wanted to wait a bit more because this dog sister was about to give birth. Unfortunately, there were no females again and by the same token, in spring 2009, Fuujin Oosaka Fujitakasou came to Poland. We got a shy, high and white Hokkaido puppy…
Fuujin, also called Fufu or Fufciu, fell in love with our pack. He loves to play with other dogs. Sometimes, he is like Pluto- a bit incapable, funny and simply disarming. Unfortunately , it turned out that Warsaw is too big, noisy and scary for our little Japanese boy. Fufu was terrified of cars and he was really distrustful to people. This is why, from the beginning, we started to walk around crowded park and shopping centres. After receiving his export pedigrees, he went with other people on his first dog show to Bulgaria. It was his first training with handlers Patryk Bukowczan and Artur Litwa. After thousands of kilometres spent in car, Fuujin changed his attitude towards this mean of transport. He forgot about his travel sickness and now he jumps into car hoping for adventurous journeys. He needed more that a year to get used to dog shows and develop his trust towards people. Frankly, our work wasn’t in vain and nowadays it is a pleasure to be with him on various dog shows. In 2009, he became a Junior World Winner in Bratislava and it was only a fruitful beginning.
Fufciu is a father of 9 puppies. We mated him with Itsuhime in 2010. We got 2 males and 1 female. They found their homes in Chech Rep., Finland and Poland. The second litter was born in Finland. Both puppy, male and female, went to Finish and Danish breeders. The third litter was the same as the first one and when it comes to mating. 4 puppies born: 2 males and 2 females. Both dams stayd in Poland and they will be used in further breeding. When it comes to dogs, they went to France and Czech Rep. Thanks to this puppies , I can surely say that our white boy has its contribution in supporting Hokkaido breed in Europe. I keep trying to find a white Hokkaido female for my Fufu and hope that one day, my dream will finally come true.
This is the story of our faithful friend, a white Spitz from Osaka. I hpe that we enhanced you to believe in your dreams and fight for them because some day, they may come true.
